If the 'discovery' stage
identifies sufficient hydro potential then the next step is a full feasibility
study. These vary enormously and are dependent on the scale of the
opportunity and the complexity of the site. However, the key features
addressed are:

- Conducting a flow measurement survey of the targeted
site – depending upon estimated scale of the scheme and prevailing SEPA
requirements (currently under review)
- Habitat Surveys – possibilities are; otter, bats and
red squirrel
- Topographical Survey – to produce a plan of the site
- Initial Grid Connection opinion from SSE or Scottish
Power
- Refinement of the design of the scheme
- Liaison and negotiation with Statutory Bodies - Local
Authority Planning Department, SEPA, and SNH
- Consultation with local residents
- Preparation of a Method Statement describing how the
project will be carried and thus the potential impacts and risks

The output for the Feasibility Stage is a fully documented
assessment of the opportunity and the required documents and evidence to enable
progress to the next stage – Planning & Approvals
